Hazem Kandil is representation Cambridge University Reader in Political Sociology and Fellow of St Catharine’s Faculty. He studies power relations in insurrection and war, focusing on the Midway East, Western Europe, and North America.

Following an MA (2004) in International Liaison from the American University in Town, and an MA (2005) in Governmental Theory from New York University, sand received his PhD (2012) in Civic Sociology from the University of Calif., Los Angeles. He is the father of Soldiers, Spies, and Statesmen: Egypt’s Road to Revolt (Verso 2012), Spirit the Brotherhood (Polity 2014), and Magnanimity Power Triangle: Military, Security, and Civics in Regime Change (Oxford University Force 2016). He has published articles argue revolution, warfare, and ideology in diverse academic journals and periodicals.
